Mid-conference Workshop A
The Essential Nature of Leadership in Workforce Planning

This workshop will allow participants to explore how leadership contributes to effective workforce planning outcomes. The workshop will analyse:
  • The importance of engaging and aligning senior executives to ensure a common understanding of the key strategic workforce planning issues
  • Leadership and management skills required by workforce planners and how to connect stakeholders across the organisation
  • The importance of workforce planning data and systems to ensure that risks can be identified and managed
  • The role that workforce planners need to play in aligning systems, policies and behaviours across their organisation.
This workshop is suited to people who are responsible for delivering workforce planning outcomes. The workshop will draw upon participants’ experiences providing greater insights into the leadership dimensions of workforce planning.

About your workshop leader
Mr Tony Wallace CSC, Director, Strategic Workforce Planning, Department of Defence has extensive workforce planning experience, and is a distinguished graduate from the United States Naval Postgraduate School in Manpower Systems Analysis. Previously, he spent three years as the Director of Workforce Modelling, Forecasting and Analysis within the Department of Defence.

She has worked at all levels of Government – Commonwealth, State Government (all), Local Government, in the corporate and private Sector, and in the not-for-profit sector internationally & nationally.
